What Is Water Soluble CBD & Why Does It Matter?

The cannabis industry is much different than it was in the past. Take CBD, for instance.

CBD was illegal until the farm bill was passed in 2018 until then no one talked about the non-psychoactive cannabinoid. Now CBD’s projected growth is $22 billion by 2020.

The methods of taking CBD are changing as fast as the industry is growing.

Where CBD tinctures once were the best option now things are starting to change. There are more different ways to take CBD than there was in the past. Edibles are a very popular option to take CBD. The next big thing to hit the market is CBD infused water.

Experts believe that the water-soluble CBD market alone could reach $260 million by 2022.

Water-soluble CBD and other Cannabinoids could change the whole cannabis industry completely. Here’s why:

CBD Molecules

Since you have been young, you most likely have heard the saying “oil and water don’t mix.”

CBD oils are no exception, this is why the development of water-soluble CBD is so crucial.

CBD tinctures are popular because they work fast and effectively. Place the CBD under your tongue and let it sit for 1-2 minutes, and then it will be absorbed into your mucous membranes in your mouth. From there it will make its way into your bloodstream.

The reason you let it sit under your tongue for 1-2 minutes rather than just swallowing it is, this allows for a quicker delivery method to the bloodstream. It doesn’t have to pass through your digestive tract and your liver before entering your bloodstream.

Don’t forget that oil and water don’t mix.  As useful as CBD oils can be for us, our bodies aren’t made for oil. We are roughly 60% water, knowing this why would you want to put anything besides water-soluble CBD into your body. Water-soluble CBD also allows for a much higher absorption rate compared to the tinctures, capsule, and edibles.

Research shows that most of the oral administration such as edibles and tinctures can have as little as a 4% absorption rate. This means that 96% of the CBD you are taking is getting wasted and flushed out by your body. When you take CBD orally you can feel the effects longer than through the other methods.

Low absorption rates lead to the development of water-soluble CBD. Many researchers believe this will change the cannabis industry as we know it.
